Oxford Hills Community Rallies Behind Norway Native Amelia Moore Ahead of NABF Title Fight
OXFORD HILLS, MAINE — When Amelia Moore steps into the ring on March 28 to fight for her first professional title, she won’t be alone.
The Oxford Hills community where Moore grew up is organizing a fan bus so supporters can travel together to the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts, to cheer on the Norway native as she competes for the NABF Lightweight Championship.
Moore, a 2020 U.S. Olympic alternate who is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by the WBO and No. 7 by the WBA, will face Canada’s Bonnie Hunter in an eight-round championship bout on CES Boxing’s North Shore Knock Out card. The event will be broadcast internationally on BXNG.TV and rebroadcast on NESN a week later.
For Moore, the support from home carries special meaning.
“I grew up in the Oxford Hills community, and so much of my journey started there,” said Moore. “Knowing people from home are coming down to support me makes it incredibly special. I want to give them a performance they’ll be proud of.”
Local businesses and community members from across the Oxford Hills region have stepped up to help organize transportation for fans wishing to attend the fight.
A 38-passenger bus will travel from the Oxford Hills area to Beverly, allowing supporters to attend the event together and show their hometown pride.
Seats on the bus are available to the public for $10, with several local businesses contributing support to make the trip possible, including 290 Maine St, Maine Line Plumbing and Heating, and Russell & Sons Towing & Recovery, along with additional community contributors.
Moore’s journey into combat sports began in Norway through an after-school martial arts program at Guy E. Rowe Elementary School, where she first discovered the sport that would eventually lead her to compete for Team USA on the international stage.
Now undefeated in the professional ranks, Moore is pursuing her first championship belt as she continues her climb toward a world title opportunity.
